乐队介绍
7 h8 X6 d1 F- L2002年8月2日，Mark Jansen被迫离开成功的荷兰金属乐队After Forever，这给他们的乐迷极大的震惊，并引起了许多讨论和愤慨。但是Mark Jansen自己却想尽快再次投入到工作之中。两个星期之后，他终于找到了他自己的乐队Sahara Dust。
. c+ J; ~ }& \ U经过两次的人员重组后，乐队于2002年11月正式成立。首先加入新乐队的成员是：吉他手Ad Sluijter，Mark的朋友和Cassiopeia的前任吉他手，也曾经和Coen Janssen协助After Forever完成过两场演出，过去他也曾和After Forever有些关系的（在他们第一任键盘手离开之后他曾参加他们在Effenaar, Eindhoven的特约演出）。很快贝司手Yves Huts也加入他们了。
( D2 [# v H: t他们寻找好的女歌手（乐队音乐的重要部分）和鼓手花了很长时间，最后Sahara Dust雇佣了那时只有17岁的Simone Simons 和Jeroen Simons（别看他们是相同的姓，只不过凑巧而已，他们之间没什么亲戚关系）。Jeroen Simons也曾是Cassiopeia的成员。

, j8 B2 D2 F; V% p2 `) Q2003年1月底，Sahara Dust开始录制他们的首张专集。这次乐队选择在德国录制这张专集，制作人是Sascha Paeth（制作过Rhapsody的许多专集），Luca Turili 和 Kamelot，虽然主唱Simone病了使得乐队有一小段时间停滞，不过这张专集仍是非常棒的，专集中的各首歌不能光用让人满意来概括，简直是太优秀了，而他们与制作人的合作也是相当愉快。用Mark的话来说就是：“我们经常意见统一。他确实将歌曲提高到一个更高的水平。8 G# j2 ]. e2 g! `
2003年3月乐队决定改名为Epica（Kamelot最近的一张专集名）。根据官方的说法，乐队成员想通过改新名字，出新专集得到一个新的开始，一次重生。! w( M% q9 ?9 X4 J
6月初Epica的首张专集"The Phantom Agony"正式登上商店货架。这张专集已经被许多金属杂志收录介绍了。Epica音乐中的一个重要组成部分是唱诗班的伴唱。与Mark的前乐队After Forever相比，Epica的唱诗班大概有以前的两倍大，在许多歌中这个6人的唱诗班扮演着最重要的角色。大部分的Epica成员还是电影音乐迷，特别是Hans Zimmer 和 Danny Elfman。这些影响在"The Phantom Agony"中都有体现，特别是专集的同名曲，更是优秀的电影音乐作品。

他们有一个合唱团 ( 有两个男高音和4个女高音） 和一列管弦乐队（3个小提琴、两个中提琴、两个大提琴和一个直立式贝斯）.
