9 C" c I# `$ P( E$ KJimi于1942年11月27日出生于华盛顿西雅图，印第安黑人血统，他小时候就整天泡在父亲A1收藏的Jazz和 Blues唱片中，并通过收音机收听R&B，Rock Nroll等新音乐风格。A1看出儿子对音乐的强烈兴趣，给他买了一把吉它，Jimi不放过任何练习的机会，很快就能跟当地几个乐队演出了。

% g$ @, Q6 i4 a1966年Jimi来到了伦敦，在Zoot Money的一场演出使Jimi在此迅速走红。Jimi的演出给经纪人Chas Chanoller留下了深刻的印象，并把其介绍给鼓手Mitch Mitchell和贝司手Noel Redding，三人开始聚在一起排练，1960年10月6日，组成The Jimi Hendrix Experience 乐队，很快便引起轰动。观看了乐队在某俱乐部的一场演出之后，Kit Lamber深受吸引，并试图劝说乐队签入其新开设的Trach厂牌旗下，但是由于Trach处于创业时期，经常并不顺利，于是乐队的第一支单曲"Hey Joe"由Polydor公司推出发行，于是成了排行榜的大热门。
