Jimi Hendrix是摇滚乐史上最伟大的吉它手，也许还有很多人对此有异议，但可以肯定地说，只是少数，其它传奇性摇滚吉它手可能在技术上更娴熟，但在 jimi之前，电吉它不过是吉它原声的电声化，正是Jimi用他的吉它创造了前人从未曾想到的奇迹，在他短暂却辉煌的音乐生涯里，jimi重塑了吉它，赋予它生命。

Jimi于1942年11月27日出生于华盛顿西雅图，印第安黑人血统，他小时候就整天泡在父亲A1收藏的Jazz和 Blues唱片中，并通过收音机收听R&B，Rock Nroll等新音乐风格。A1看出儿子对音乐的强烈兴趣，给他买了一把吉它，Jimi不放过任何练习的机会，很快就能跟当地几个乐队演出了。

J' v c; v+ J& ?3 I1966年Jimi来到了伦敦，在Zoot Money的一场演出使Jimi在此迅速走红。Jimi的演出给经纪人Chas Chanoller留下了深刻的印象，并把其介绍给鼓手Mitch Mitchell和贝司手Noel Redding，三人开始聚在一起排练，1960年10月6日，组成The Jimi Hendrix Experience 乐队，很快便引起轰动。观看了乐队在某俱乐部的一场演出之后，Kit Lamber深受吸引，并试图劝说乐队签入其新开设的Trach厂牌旗下，但是由于Trach处于创业时期，经常并不顺利，于是乐队的第一支单曲"Hey Joe"由Polydor公司推出发行，于是成了排行榜的大热门。
