, Y6 e! X- U, i; M6 P9 r! @# KJimi于1942年11月27日出生于华盛顿西雅图，印第安黑人血统，他小时候就整天泡在父亲A1收藏的Jazz和 Blues唱片中，并通过收音机收听R&B，Rock Nroll等新音乐风格。A1看出儿子对音乐的强烈兴趣，给他买了一把吉它，Jimi不放过任何练习的机会，很快就能跟当地几个乐队演出了。

2 i) l- E, _/ R3 J- H: m1966年Jimi来到了伦敦，在Zoot Money的一场演出使Jimi在此迅速走红。Jimi的演出给经纪人Chas Chanoller留下了深刻的印象，并把其介绍给鼓手Mitch Mitchell和贝司手Noel Redding，三人开始聚在一起排练，1960年10月6日，组成The Jimi Hendrix Experience 乐队，很快便引起轰动。观看了乐队在某俱乐部的一场演出之后，Kit Lamber深受吸引，并试图劝说乐队签入其新开设的Trach厂牌旗下，但是由于Trach处于创业时期，经常并不顺利，于是乐队的第一支单曲"Hey Joe"由Polydor公司推出发行，于是成了排行榜的大热门。

1967年夏天，乐队应邀去加利福尼亚的Monterey流行音乐节演出，这庞大的露天音乐会是"旧金山爱之夏"的音乐象征，许多英美的一流摇滚乐队来此演出，Jimi在这次演出中将一把吉它玩尽了花样，或高举过头顶，或置于双腿间，或在背后弹拨，甚至用牙齿来抚动琴弦，在结束时Jimi将引燃液浇在心爱的吉他上点燃，作为对信仰的一种祭奠，然后把它摔得粉碎，将燃烧的碎片抛向观众席，而插头此时仍没有拨掉，Jimi这一举动无疑使人群为之疯狂，而 Jimi亦奠定了他在美国摇滚乐坛上的巨星地位。音乐节过后，他又马不停蹄地推出单曲《Purple Haze》和大碟《Are You Experienced》在美国销量超过一百万张，随后的《Axis：Bold As Love》于1967年12月推出， 这张唱片更具实验性，尽管打入美国榜TOP20，商业上却没有第一张唱片成功，在此期间，Jimi于英美各地巡回演出，推销他的两张唱片，几乎每场演唱会门票一售而空。
