1998年，Metalcore乐团Overcast解散后，贝司手Mike D’Antonio想要组织一个结合硬核朋克与重金属的新团，隔年找来Aftershock的双吉他手团员Adam Dutkiewicz以及Joel Stroetzel共同创作演出，最后邀请Jesse Leach担任主唱一职后，Killswitch Engage正式宣告成军。
5 h' n4 x$ H3 _& Z9 O他们的音乐旋律性比较强，排山倒海般整洁快速的吉他音墙，厚重的鼓点，沉稳的贝司，主歌部分声嘶力竭的双主唱吼叫，副歌部分具有恢弘气势的演唱，外加出众的旋律编曲。这就是killswith engage一支来自美国的重金属乐队，他们最近被美国国内一些媒体评为美国重金属新浪潮代表之一，也就是New Wave of American Heavy Metal运动，被评为美国新派激流(New Thrash)代表之一。
& ]6 m0 Y6 W+ i3 K& b2000年推出独立厂牌的首张同名专辑，就在多加入一名成员Tom Gomes担任鼓手后，2002年进入Roadrunner后问世《Alive Or Just Breathing》，在没有强力宣传下大破十余万销售量，深受地下独立乐界好评赞誉。换上新任主唱Howard Jones以及新任鼓手Justin Foley顺势推出《The End Of Heartache》，首周便空降全美流行专辑榜Top21位置，凶猛的作品也成为美国摔角WWE与ECW等选手最爱。
