发展历程
3 g$ m7 F/ G' w2 K1976年，Iron Maiden最初由贝斯手史蒂夫·哈里斯（Steve Harris）组建，而当时乐队的其他成员为吉他手Tony Parsons，鼓手Doug Sampson和主唱Paul Di'Anno。在与唱片公司正式签约之前，Iron Maiden一直都在伦敦当地不停的演出，乐队的歌曲在当地的电台中非常受欢迎。1980年，在新吉他手Dennis Stratton取代了Tony Parsons之后，Iron Maiden发行了乐队的首张同名专辑《Iron Maiden》。Iron Maiden的这张专辑虽然是在仓促之中完成，但由于单曲《Running Free》在英国大受欢迎，因此这张专辑在英国的销量也是非常令人满意的。1981年，Iron Maiden的第二张专辑《Killers》面世，曲风更加硬朗。在这张专辑中，阿德里安·史密斯（Adrian Smith）代替了Dennis Stratton，出任Iron Maiden的新吉他手。而由于严重的酗酒，主唱Paul Di'Anno也在《Killers》专辑面世之后被迫离开了乐队。

6 @" u) a: Q, I& N新阵容的IRON MAIDEN在1982年获得了更大的成功。在与乐队进行了一些热身性质的演出后，Bruce和乐队一同进入录音室录制了经典专辑Number Of The Beast（怪物编号）。这是一张整个重金属世界的不朽名作，成熟的歌曲编排和精湛的演奏技术，再加上Bruce Dickinson那超级大嗓门，整张专辑无可挑剔，这也是我最喜欢的重金属专辑之一。专辑刚推出就立刻击败所有对手，直登英国专辑榜首位，而同时作为单曲发表的IRON MAIDEN的经典曲目Run To The Hills也成为乐队的第一首排行榜十大歌曲，在欧洲和美国也相应获得了同样的成功。这种辉煌的商业战绩使得IRON MAIDEN最早从英国新浪潮重金属乐队中脱离出来，从而进一步取得世界范围的成功，紧接在其后的就是另一支更为流行化的乐队DEF LEPPARD（要等到1983年的多白金唱片Pyromania发行之后）。接下来的Beast On The Road巡演也是空前浩大的，为时8个月的180场演出把乐队带到了更加遥远的澳大利亚和新西兰。乐队又一次经历了人员变动，Clive Burr离开了乐队，迎来了恶名昭著的鼓手/笑料/大头鬼Nicko McBrain。5 r6 i! s# P) z' y* t) T
1983年，新专辑Piece Of Mind（思维碎片）出台。当专辑登上英国榜第三位的时候，乐队开始World Piece巡演。如同以往一样，IRON MAIDEN的每次巡演都进一步扩大了自己的势力范围，这次巡演在美国已经升级为大型剧院或体育馆的专场演出了。IRON MAIDEN在Piece Of Mind专辑中继续发展了史诗化音乐的风格，平均每首歌的长度都在5分钟以上，复杂的编曲和精致的吉他和声并没有消减音乐的力度，或许唯一的令人感到遗憾的就是显得过于华丽了一点，而这种华丽炫计的倾向在日后的专辑中一直延续了下去，这使得IRON MAIDEN的音乐渐渐丧失了早期的硬朗，显得稍微疲软一些了。 1984年乐队录制了又一张出色的专辑Powerslave（奴隶统治），一张史诗般的作品，其中包括了一首13分钟长的名曲Rime Of The Ancient Mariner，这是我最喜欢的IRON MAIDEN歌曲（我是如此喜欢它以至于对专辑中其他的歌没有什么兴趣）。巡演先于专辑的发行就开始了，乐队的标志怪物Eddie（就是IRON MAIDEN封面上常用的那个家伙）首次伴随着巨大的舞台和灯光出现在观众面前。以前Eddid只是作为点缀不起眼的搁置在舞台一角，而这次的巡演中，Eddie变成一个机械控制的6米多高的巨型怪物，这令IRON MAIDEN的舞台演出效果增色不少，无数歌迷为之疯狂不已。IRON MAIDEN还是冷战时期第一个冲破东欧的铁幕，来到波兰进行演出的乐队（可以想象，那时的VADER及现在诸多成名的波兰乐队曾从中受惠颇多）。巡演开始后三周，专辑正式发行，并直接升到英国榜第二位。
# n3 P/ }* H9 F, P% C, E B为期近一年的巡演在世界各地打破了多项记录：在Rock In Rio音乐节的20万观众面前演出，在纽约Radio City剧院连续5天的演出座无虚席（如果不是因为疾病的话，本来可以到7天的），在美国长滩体育馆（1万4千座）连续4晚的爆满......其中长滩的成功演出被录制下来作为乐队的现场专辑和录像带Live After Death（死后再现）予以发行。这张现场专辑的磁带版长达100多分钟，CD版也有80多分钟，在这样长的时间里，IRON MAIDEN那强烈的现场气氛能让听者为之狂热不休。良好的音质和制作，比专辑更重的现场效果使这张现场专辑成为重金属的经典现场专辑之一。专辑推出后在英国榜上升到第二名，录像带则在相当长的一段时间内占据榜首地位。我最初听到这张专辑是在很多年前了（大概是91-92年），一直以来，我都认为这张现场专辑的水准在我听过的现场专辑中是最高的，远远超过了METALLICA，GUNS N' ROSES，SLAYER甚至BLACK SABBATH的现场专辑，或许只有JUDAS PRIEST的Unleashed In The East能与之媲美。
