简介
来自美国Memphis的著名Christian Rock乐队Skillet，由1996年John Cooper组成了这支乐队，乐队以健康歌词和积极向上的态度来得到基督教听众认识和喜爱，这也是Christian Rock的本质(当然现在可以有多种多样的风格了)。他们的歌词结果往往是很容易融入旋律，可以让失落的灵魂寻找一些精神的力量，在这方面，Skillet要比其他Christian Rock如Pillar要做的好的多，乐队偏向金属而不失前卫的做法也得到其他乐队的借鉴，可以说也是Christian Rock典型代表人物。

发展过程
福音摇滚乐队Skillet成立于田纳西州的Memphis,主唱兼贝斯手John Copper，吉他手Ken Steorts 和鼓手Trey McClurkin。1996年发行首张同名专辑LP，两年后的Hey you和2000年的I love your soul专辑相继出世,同年，收录了三首歌曲的Ardent Worship Live专辑也趁热打铁般地和歌迷见面。2001年，以全新阵容：John Copper贝斯手兼主唱，他的妻子Korey Cooper吉他兼键盘手，Basica吉他手，Lori Peters鼓手（07年离开由当时年仅18岁的Jen Ledger接替）站在世界舞台。
为了要「知己知彼百战百胜」，基督徒摇滚乐团 Skillet(平底锅) ，跑去看了知名的「反基督」乐团Marilyn Manson( 玛丽莲曼森) 的表演。
因为有 CCM 乐评人说『 Skillet 的音乐可以拿来跟Marilyn Manson与Nine Inch Nails( 九吋钉 ) 相评比』，而以上两个乐团常常被教会人士批为「反基督」。
以实际销售量来说， Skillet 大约只有 MM ( Marilyn Manson) 的十分之一不到，没办法，人家是主流大公司花大笔宣传费打造出来的，基督教音乐最卖的也比不上一个主流音乐界快挂的。
Skillet 主唱 John Cooper 看了 MM 的演唱会之后，更加下定决心，要"以其人之道还治其人之身"。
Skillet 的音乐听起来非常像MM 、NIN ( Nine Inch Nails) 这种『重金属工业摇滚』，吵得不得了。其实，最早他们刚开始作音乐的时候，并不会那么吵，走的是一般「中间路线」的另类摇滚。后来可能发现一堆青少年都被吵得要死的摇滚乐吸引去了，他们为了「 向甚么样的人，就作甚么样的人 」，开始转向，朝基督教音乐史上最吵的乐团迈进。无论如何，总要救这些青少年。
『我看到那些青少年对着 MM 如痴如狂的模样，我愈发了解音乐的力量，音乐是如何地影响学生们，音乐使人提升也使人沈沦；我也可以发挥那种影响力，但我要加入 - 希望的信息 - 』 Skillet 在访问中这么说。
他听完 MM 的演唱会后，回去写了一首歌叫 Rippin'' Me Off( 撕裂我 ) ，他觉得世界上有很多负面的东西，像 MM ，一直在撕裂人心。他将他的愤怒写出来，用很强烈的音乐方式，为了是要接触那群喜欢 MM 、 NIN 的『重金属工业摇滚歌迷』。
他们也要办像 MM 那种超大型演唱会，要让青少年听到耶稣为他们死的道理，耶稣如何为他们受苦，耶稣多么爱他们。
该张专辑『 Alien Youth 』 ( 异形青年 ) ，是他们大力推广的"火热激烈进步 型基督信仰"，他们认为他们是"被拣选的火热青年"， 不受拦阻、为灵魂争战、要震撼世人、要接管世界 … 好狂妄的口气。不过，这个世代的青少年都太无所谓，可能就需要这种当头棒喝。
确实，『 Alien Youth 』也引起许多回响，许多青少年蛮同意他们说的『我们都不属于这个世界，我们是「异形」，我们跟这个世界的价值观都不一样』。
和很多金属摇滚乐队一样，他们也文身，毕竟他们要面对的是大批的金属乐迷，要迎合大众的口味。他们也曾在Youtube上传自己的生活视频，乐队成员之间的关系很好，生活方式都很健康（这点真的和很多金属乐队很不同）。
和很多金属乐队主唱的黑嗓不同，Skillet乐队主唱John Cooper的嗓音只是有些沧桑的沙哑风格，这也是他们的特色吧，把基督教摇滚和其他金属摇滚区分开来，不得不说这种嗓音真的很抚慰人心。
